Sir Gregory Parsloe-Parsloe, J.P., seventh baronet of Matchingham Hall, Much Matchingham, Shropshire, phone Matchingham 8-30. Uncle of Monty Bodkin, cousin of Monica Simmons. Came into his title when a cousin died. Lives three miles from Lord Emsworth, his rival in the matter of pigs, pumpkins, and other things agricultural in The Custody of the Pumpkin, Pig-Hoo-o-o-o-ey!, Company for Gertrude, Summer Lightning, Heavy Weather, Pigs Have Wings, Service With a Smile. A large (6' 1"), elderly (in the middle fifties), self-indulgent bachelor of portly habit who resembles a florid buck of the old Regency days. Known in school as Tubby. In 1894 or '97 (Galahad Threepwood suspects) he filled Gally's dog Towser up with steak and onions in the back room of the Black Footman just before the Big Rat contest so that his own terrier Banjo should win. In Summer Lightning Gaily and Lord Emsworth recall that he stole Lord Burper's false teeth and pawned them at a shop in the Edgware Road in about '96. Owner of a pig named Pride of Matchingham, in Company for Gertrude and Summer Lightning hires away Emsworth's pig-man George Cyril Wellbeloved; in Heavy Weather wants to be Unionist candidate in the Bridgeford & Shifley Parliamentary Division of Shropshire. Briefly engaged to Gloria Salt in Pigs Have Wings, where he agrees to marry Sebastian Beach's niece Maudie Stubbs. Husband of Maudie and father of Tubby in Service With a Smile.
