Referred to in Big Money as Oofy Simpson. His father was
Prosser's Pep Pills. His uncles include Hildebrand, who has
an apoplectic stroke in 1947, and Stanley, who dies of
cirrhosis of the liver in 1949. Horace Prosser turns out to
be a distant relative, but no uncle. Lives in Bloxham
Mansions, Park Lane. Wears sidewhiskers, silk underwear, and
shoes by Lobb. Notwithstanding his vast wealth, he is
constantly involved in chancy schemes to make more money.
Sends strawberries to Clarice Mallaby in The Knightly Quest of Mervyn;
gives Pongo Twistleton 100 to 8 that Adolphus Stiffham will never marry
Geraldine Spettisbury in The Luck of the Stiffhams (he loses). Barely escapes

Mabel Murgatroyd. Married in Ice in the Bedroom to Myrtle Shoesmith, whose jewelry
he has insured for double its value; still recently married in
Galahad at Blandings, where his wife wants to buy a country house.
