Orlo J. Porter, 27, was on the same staircase at Oxford with
Bertie; he was a prominent figure at the Union, where he
made fiery far-to-the-left speeches; now employed by the
London & Home Counties Insurance Co. and active in political
demonstrations. Well-nourished, irritable, red-headed, a
Communist and birdwatcher, in love with Vanessa Cook in
Aunts Aren't Gentlemen. Her father is trustee of his large estate inherited from
his uncle Joe, Cook's partner in a big provision company.
