James "Corky" Corcoran, narrator of the Ukridge stories, an alter ego of the early PGW; writes articles for Interesting Bits and footling short stories about girls who turn out to be missing heiresses. Boyhood chum (at Wrykyn School) of S.F. Ukridge, who continues to prey upon his good nature. A graduate of Cambridge, he now rents a bedroom on Ebury Street, where he is attended by his landlord, the ex-butler Bowles. Frequent source of petty loans and articles of clothing pressed into service by Ukridge.
